James Gunn Shares Excitement About Second Superman Test Screening
Posted on December 03, 2024 by Neil Cole
Director James Gunn appeared on a recent newscast on Saturday, offering a glimpse into the progress of his much-anticipated film, "Superman". Gunn shared his enthusiasm for the project, specifically about the second test screening for the film, which was scheduled to take place that evening.
"I am really excited about it. I'm about to go do our second test screening after this tonight, and I'm excited about that," said Gunn. "I know that I like the movie I'm making when I'm excited to show it to an audience. It's not always the case. I always sometimes a little bit more scared, but I'm just really excited to show it to people. Again, it's been a great process so far with wonderful actors all around, wonderful crew."
Gunn's enthusiasm is understandable given the weight of expectations surrounding the Superman film. As the first Superman movie under the new DC Universe (DCU) that Gunn and Peter Safran are building, the project has attracted attention not just for its lead actors, but for its potential to define the next era of DC films.
Fans of the Man of Steel are eagerly awaiting their first official look at Gunn's vision for the iconic superhero. While there's no exact date for the trailer, it's widely speculated that it will drop around Christmas. The most likely opportunity for the release is tied to Disney's "Mufasa: The Lion King", set to hit theaters on December 20th.
However, some had hoped that the CCXP (Comic-Con Experience) in Brazil next month would serve as a major venue for a Superman trailer debut. Despite this, Gunn has confirmed that neither he nor Safran will be attending the convention, making a CCXP reveal increasingly unlikely.
"Superman" is scheduled for release on July 11th, 2025 and will feature David Corenswet in the role of Clark Kent/Superman. Alongside him, Rachel Brosnahan will portray Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult will take on the villainous role of Lex Luthor. The stellar cast and Gunn's direction have fans eager to see how the new Superman will be portrayed, balancing the iconic superhero's legacy with fresh creative ideas.
