The official teaser trailer for Supergirl has given fans their first look at Jason Momoa's Lobo, and he is everything they were hoping he would be (and more).

The official teaser trailer for Supergirl starring Milly Alcock was posted to the official DC and Warner Bros. YouTube channel earlier today, and with it came the first official look at returning DC film star Jason Momoa. Far from his previous outings as Aquaman, Supergirl will see Momoa step into the shoes of DC's Main Man, the interstellar bounty hunter known as Lobo.

First seen in the pages of Omega Men #3 by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen back in 1983, Lobo is by far one of DC Comics' most beloved characters. Long known as the last Czarnian, the classic Lobo murdered every other member of his species effectively on a whim before setting out to make a name for himself as the universe's most unstoppable bounty hunter. Capable of fully regenerating from near-total annihilation and imbued with impossible strength, Lobo has long been a serious problem for even the likes of Superman himself.

In the decades since his debut, Lobo's story and the presence of other Czarnians in the DC Universe (and others) has only expanded, as has the desire to see the character on the silver screen. Even Momoa himself has been vocal about his desire and subsequent excitement at portraying Lobo, previously noting, "I just think I'm the right person to play the role... If we're going to typecast me in anything, let's put me in Lobo."

Lobo Will Be An Important Part Of The Supergirl Movie

DC Studios co-head James Gunn teased exactly how important Lobo will be to the overarching narrative of Supergirl, with the character playing a greater role than many expected. "The comic is very much a bunch of little stories," Gunn said of Tom King's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which largely serves as the basis for the upcoming film. "We needed to create one throughline, one three-act story, so Lobo helps us to do that."

Speaking to CBR, DC Studios co-head Peter Safran commented on just how easily Momoa fit into the role of Lobo in terms of both character and production, noting that "You kind of want actors that are volunteers, and not recruits, and he was volunteering to be Lobo."

"He just wanted to do it," Safran continued. "He came in, we shot in England, and he just crushed it. He brought exactly what he wanted to it. And he made it his own, as well."

Supergirl is currently slated to soar into theaters on Jun. 26, 2026.
