Jurassic World Rebirth made a fairly strong showing at the box office with more than $500 million earned globally in less than two weeks. However, Universal announced the film will be available on digital platforms starting August 5, 2025, barely a month after its July 2 theatrical release. That’s a much faster turnaround than what previous franchise installments received.
This quick shift from theaters to home viewing raises some questions. In recent years, Universal’s biggest blockbusters have typically remained in theaters longer before a digital release. The decision to move Rebirth to digital platforms so soon may signal that the studio is eager to capture home viewing audiences, but it also could suggest that theatrical interest dropped off faster than anticipated, despite the film’s early box office performance.
As of now, there’s no announced date for when Jurassic World Rebirth will arrive on a subscription streaming service like Peacock, but the accelerated digital release is notable. This move has left some fans wondering if Universal is responding to softer interest compared to earlier installments, or simply taking a new approach to maximize revenue across different platforms.
