Iron Man: Enter the Mandarin #1-6 (2007)

I love Joe Casey but, unfortunately, I didn’t love this miniseries.  To be fair, though, it was released at the same time that the main Iron Man title was doing the best Mandarin arc I’ve ever read.

LINK TO THAT

This was clearly just an attempt to link up with the Iron Man movie, where “Mandarin” is featured as a villain.  It’s a fairly standard story with the traditional beats: Mandarin beats up Iron Man.  Iron Man is wounded and has to recover.  A flunky (Scarecrow) comes in for the middle fight.  Mandarin learns Tony is Iron Man.  Final face off.  Mandarin escapes.  Nothing bad here but nothing memorable either.

Frankly, it doesn’t appear to be canon.  The Boris Turgenov version of Crimson Dynamo has a small role, and by my reckoning he’s been dead for many years.
