Kamandi v1 #40, 1976 - In Jack Kirby's final issue, Kamandi and company arrive in the American southwest, drawing the attention of its reptilian inhabitants. The story art lacks the verve of earlier issues, with fewer splash pages and large panels. It's worth noting that at forty issues, Kamandi is by far Kirby's longest run of the bronze age. Joe Kubert's somewhat mediocre cover also marks his last work on the series. This is 40 of 40 Kamandi issues by Kirby and 7 of 7 Kamandi issues by Kubert.
