He has a deep knowledge of franchises like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Marvel, and DC Comics, along with a passion for indie and horror titles. An expert on obscure productions from the ’80s and ’90s, John is known for his encyclopedic recall of cult classics like Beetleborgs.

The Boys star Karl Urban reacts to the hit superhero series claiming two separate Guinness World Records.

As seen in an Instagram reel from MCM Comic Con, Urban can be seen on stage alongside his The Boys costars Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, and Karen Fukuhara to accept not one, but two different Guinness World Records on behalf of the show. In response to The Boys being awarded the Guinness World Records for both Most In-Demand Action-Adventure TV Show and Most In-Demand Superhero TV Show, Urban said, "Hey, thank you so much guys. I just want to say, this is really, really special to us... Really incredible. But, I guess, you know, there's a few people that we really should thank. Um, Garth Ennis, for one, who was the creator of The Boys. Amazing graphic novels, amazing comics if you haven't read it."

Urban continued, "[Executive producers] Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Eric Kripke, we need to thank Erik Kripke who, you know, without his captaining the ship, none of this would have been possible. Obviously Amazon and Sony Pictures. I would have to thank them for their support for the show. And, of course, our Toronto crew, can't forget them because [it] would have been impossible without them. They made us better. And definitely, most importantly, also, thanks to you guys. Thanks to the fans for being with us for four seasons. Coming 5. We can't wait for you to see what we've cooked up for Season 5 and this means the world to us. Thank you."

Created by showrunner Eric Kripke and based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's hit comic book series of the same name, The Boys premiered on Prime Video in 2019 and immediately cemented itself as the latest hit superhero series. Over the past four seasons, The Boys has amassed rave reviews and dozens of major industry award nominations alike, not to mention 23 wins, including the 2021 Saturn Award for Best Superhero Adaptation Television Series and the 2023 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Stunt Coordination for John Koyama. The Boys is currently headed into its fifth and final season at Prime Video, though that won't mark the end of the wider franchise as a whole.

Kripke opened up about what the future of The Boys looks like after Season 5 brings the main series and its long-running narrative to a close. He pointed towards the future success of Gen V Season 2 as the determining factor in whether the hit spinoff gets a Season 3 at Prime Video, which the showrunner noted has already been planned out. "Same applies to Vought Rising Season 1," Kripke explained. "We have plans for a Season 2, if we can. They've been nothing but supportive, and they're giving us our opportunities. But it's a business and we also have to deliver. So hopefully the audience shows up." Kripke added, "As long as there's an interesting story to tell and new facets to reveal, I'm in. Without spoiling anything, I think the universe post-The Boys Season 5 is such a fascinating universe, there's a lot to explore."

The Boys is currently available for streaming on Prime Video. Season 5 is currently expected to premiere in 2026.
