Krysten Ritter, known for her role as Jessica Jones in the Marvel Netflix series, recently addressed speculation about her potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe during an appearance on CBS Mornings. The actress, who was promoting her new novel “Retreat,” expressed enthusiasm for the character and hinted at the possibility of reprising her role.
When asked about joining the MCU, either in “Daredevil: Born Again” or in her own series, Ritter responded cautiously but positively. “Listen, I love Jessica Jones and I think it’s so exciting that there seems to be such an appetite to see her again,” she said. Ritter acknowledged the frequent inquiries about her return, stating, “I get asked about it almost every day and, you know, we remain cautiously optimistic. And I hope I get to join it”.
Ritter played Jessica Jones in her eponymous Marvel series for three seasons on Netflix between 2015 and 2019, with her character also joining fellow Marvel Netflix charatcers, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and Luke Cage, in The Defenders in 2017. The actress expressed her readiness to return to the role if given the opportunity. “Of course, if they asked me, I would be there, ready,” Ritter affirmed. She also revealed that she may have kept a memento from the original series, adding, “I may or may not have the jacket that I stole from set the first time”.
Ritter’s comments come amid the release of “Daredevil: Born Again,” which has already featured several returning actors from the Marvel Netflix shows, including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and other characters like Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), and many more.
While no official announcements have been made regarding Jessica Jones’ return to the MCU, Ritter’s enthusiasm and the positive reception of other Marvel Netflix characters in recent MCU projects suggest that the possibility remains open. Now if only more people were tuning in to watch the new series…
