Margot Robbie opens up about the two years she spent sleeping alongside a facsimile of her The Suicide Squad co-star John Cena, and it is hilarious.

As seen in a video that has recently begun making the rounds again on social media, Robbie previously discussed the experience during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! along with James Gunn and Cena himself. Robbie explained that she herself was an on-and-off WWE fan as a child and teenager before kicking off a romantic relationship with a diehard fan. "Then, as a late teen, early 20s, I had a boyfriend who was obsessed with John Cena."

"So much so, that he dressed as John Cena for his 21st birthday," Robbie continued. "And had a cardboard cut-out of John Cena in his bedroom. So I slept in a room, for two years, with a life-size cardboard cut-out of John Cena in the room. Sometimes I'd wake up in the middle of the night and then I was like '(gasps), Oh, it's just John Cena. It's okay." Robbie added, "I remember thinking, if now that I'm going to work with John Cena, should I tell him this or is that gonna to be weird, and I thought I'm just going to keep that to myself. I'm not gonna tell him. That'd be a weird way to start our working relationship."

Robbie and Cena shared the silver screen together as members of the ensemble cast of 2021's The Suicide Squad. The film saw Robbie reprise her role as Harley Quinn and marked Cena's debut as Christopher Smith, better known as Peacemaker. The Suicide Squad was a massive critical success upon its release, though the film floundered in theaters due to a variety of reasons ranging from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the film's availability on HBO Max. As of the time of writing, The Suicide Squad holds a whopping 90% "Certified Fresh" rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomaotes, as averaged across nearly 400 verified critical reviews of the film.

Will Margot Robbie Be Back as Harley Quinn in the DCU?

While Robbie hasn't returned to the role of Harley Quinn since The Suicide Squad, fans may not have to wait as long as they think before they see her version of the character make her DCU debut. Back in August, DC Studios co-head James Gunn responded to a question about Robbie's potential place in the DCU with, "That will be revealed down the line." Although that doesn't provide any concrete confirmation in and of itself, fans have taken it as a tacit confirmation that Robbie will indeed be back as Harley Quinn at some point in the near future, as Gunn has famously had no qualms with shooting down inaccurate fan theories or speculation.

The Suicide Squad is currently available for streaming on HBO Max.
