Marvel Comics and DC Comics have announced a historic publishing collaboration that will unite two of the most recognizable and influential superheroes in global pop culture: Superman and Spider-Man. The event will span two prestige one-shot releases, Superman/Spider-Man #1 and Spider-Man/Superman #1, scheduled to arrive in spring 2026, representing a rare crossover between the comic industry's two leading publishers.
The initiative commemorates the 50th anniversary of the original Superman-Spider-Man crossover, revisiting the legendary partnership while presenting entirely new stories for contemporary audiences. Superman/Spider-Man #1 is set for release on March 25, 2026, followed by Spider-Man/Superman #1 in April 2026. Together, the titles form a coordinated anthology event designed to celebrate the enduring legacy, global appeal, and shared heroic ideals of both characters.
Spider-Man/Superman #1 will feature an expansive anthology of original stories produced by an all-star lineup of acclaimed writers and artists from both publishers. Each segment explores a distinct tone, era, or creative approach, offering readers a multifaceted look at the iconic heroes across different settings and narrative styles. Anthology highlights include:
• Spider-Man Noir Meets Golden Age Superman: A Golden Age-inspired, noir-era story pairing Spider-Man Noir with the original Superman in a stylized period adventure.
• Metropolis Symbiot Invasion: A large-scale action narrative centered on Metropolis facing an unprecedented symbiote-driven threat, drawing in additional legendary heroes.
• Superman Teams with Miles Morales: A character-focused encounter bringing together Superman and Miles Morales, emphasizing legacy, responsibility, and generational heroism.
• Marvel and DC Villains Unite: A high-stakes villain storyline uniting Lex Luthor and Norman Osborn in a cross-universe power struggle against Spider-Man and Superman.
• Family Crisis: Celebrated creators Geoff Johns and Gary Frank reunite for a rare Marvel contribution, orchestrating a high-stakes confrontation that draws both the Superman and Spider-Man families into a dangerous entanglement sparked by Mysterio - only to reveal that the greatest threat may emerge from within their own ranks.
• Gwen Stacy Meets Lana Lang: Amazing Spider-Man writer Joe Kelly and acclaimed artist Humberto Ramos present a lighter, character-driven story that brings Gwen Stacy and Lana Lang together in a collegiate setting, blending humor, heart, and cross-universe charm.
• Hobgoblin vs. Steel: Legendary writer Louise Simonson, co-creator of Steel, joins forces with artist Todd Nauck to deliver a dynamic clash between John Henry Irons and the Hobgoblin, closing the anthology with a powerful, action-forward encounter.
Complementing the anthology, the crossover will feature an array of premium variant covers created by top-tier artists, underscoring the release's significance as a major collector-focused event. The project follows earlier facsimile editions of classic crossovers and represents a broader celebration of collaboration, creativity, and shared history within the comic book medium.
Superman/Spider-Man #1 and Spider-Man/Superman #1 will be available through comic book retailers worldwide, with preorder information and additional creative details to be released in the months ahead via official Marvel and DC channels.
