Marvel Apes #1-4 (2008-2009)

Gibbon ends up being teleported into a dimension full of ape versions of Earth 616’s heroes and villains.

Like Spider-Monkey, Boomerangutan, and Iron Mandrill of the Ape-Vengers.

They live in Monkhattan. And get coffee at Starmonks.

Other than the framing sequence, this mini takes place entirely in another dimension and involves only Gibbon. Is he your favorite character? No. I” I’m betting he would have trouble cracking your top 100.

And yet…This is a strangely fun series that kinda…Works? This guy clearly loves it.

There’s a (really fun) back-up feature where Uatu offers the history of this Apeverse.

Believe it or not, the ape characters return in the future–but I’m not tagging them all individually. That would take hours. I’m collectively tagging them.

Except for Spider Monkey, who actually appears in more than ten other books.

Also, the covers are tribute covers.

Because of course they are.
