Marvel Confirms Daredevil Season 2’s Place in the MCU Timeline

Marvel Studios has officially confirmed where Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 fits in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, just days after the new season began streaming on Disney+. The update comes as fans continue to question how newer Marvel projects fit around the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame and its five-year time jump.

According to the official Marvel website, the second season of Daredevil: Born Again takes place after Thunderbolts* and before Wonder Man. The timeline notes that Season 2 is set six months after the events of Season 1, which unfolded between January and April 2027. This means the second season likely happens in October 2027, close to when Thunderbolts* occurs. Many fans had already suspected this based on Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s line about Bucky Barnes’ congressional term in that film.

The shows are already connected. Matthew Lillard’s character, Mr. Charles, works under Valentina, who has alliances with both the government and Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin. Now that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 comes after Thunderbolts*, fans are wondering why there are no references to the “Void incident” or the New Avengers, events that would have made headlines in New York. The detail could hint at a future cameo from one of the team members inside the new season.

The confirmed placement of Wonder Man after Daredevil: Born Again provides another clue about Marvel’s schedule. The Wonder Man series appears to take place in late 2027 or early 2028. Earlier speculation had placed the show in 2026, based on a line by Trevor Slattery about being sober for “13 years” after the events of 2013’s Iron Man 3. Now, with a time jump at the end of Wonder Man showing Simon Williams’ Hollywood premiere, the timeline seems more flexible, leading into Avengers: Doomsday in 2028 as teased in the Thunderbolts* post-credit scene.

Marvel’s updated chart also confirms that earlier Netflix-era stories like Daredevil Season 2, Luke Cage Season 1, Iron Fist Season 1, and The Defenders all take place before Captain America: Civil War. Later installments such as Jessica Jones Season 3 and The Punisher Season 2 occur before Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Infinity War. That timeline leaves about eight years of in-universe time for characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Frank Castle to return. Meanwhile, Echo confirmed that both Daredevil and Kingpin survived Thanos’ snap, making their rivalry one of the longest-running storylines in the current Marvel continuity.
