Marvel Knights Punisher: War Zone #1-6 (2009)

There are at least three kinds of Garth Ennis Punisher. There’s the brilliant one from Marvel’s MAX line that focused hyper realistically on the kind of gruesome horrors that men do in the underworld. There’s the one from Ennis’ Nick Fury MAX world, who may or may not be the same Frank Castle, who is a masterful technician and warrior. And then there’s the one who ran Wolverine over with a steamroller. Believe it or not, that’s the canonic one.

And that’s this one.

Mob boss “Ma Gnucci” returns. Punisher has already taken her arms and her legs. Now he has to finish her off in six issues of over-the-top, nonstop violence.
