Patrik Walker is an Emmy Award–winning writer who covers all things Comics & Superheroes. His work can also be found at the Dallas Cowboys, The Sporting News, and CBS Sports, among other outlets. One of the most respected names in his field, he is also a diehard enthusiast of all things comics, anime, gaming and movies — thriving in spaces where discussions involving those or similar topics reign supreme.

Deadpool looks ready for all comers in the multiverse, regardless of power level, thanks to Marvel Comics. Things have gone swimmingly for the Merc with the Mouth within the Marvel Cinematic Universe to this point, the completely reworked look of and by Ryan Reynolds that's taken the world by storm having made everybody all but forget the terrible rendition introduced in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine .

Reynolds and Marvel Studios used that new look to create a franchise that features three films — Deadpool, Deadpool 2 and the record-setting Deadpool & Wolverine — and has amassed a mind-blowing $3 billion in box office earnings and millions more in PVOD rentals and merchandise sales.

It's all a testament to what a new look can do for Deadpool, so Marvel Comics decided to have some fun with it themselves, because why should Marvel Studios have all the fun? To that point, Marvel Comics is introducing a version of Wade Wilson that is cosmically overpowered by way of the Knullbuster armor.

You read that correctly: Deadpool is now equipped to take on Knull, the omnipotent elder god and creator of the symbiotes in Wade Wilson: Deadpool #6, and the variant covers also include a super-gross version of Wilson — and a collection of others also equipped with weaponry to combat Venom's father.

The one and only time Marvel Studios has allowed fans to get a glimpse at Knull was in Venom: The Last Dance and, let's be honest, that was a laughable cameo that revealed literally zero powers and even provided a post-credit scene that was ultimately benign, seeing as Tom Hardy isn't reprising the role of Eddie Brock/Venom anymore and there are no discussions whatsoever as to when and if Knull will ever make another appearance in a live-action capacity.

Why is that infinitely disappointing? Well, it's because Knull is literally one of the most powerful characters in the history of comics, older than the universe/multiverse itself, and all we got to enjoy was him bossing around the Xenophages. Marvel Comics gets it, though, and they know that taking on Knull requires someone that is either immortal or virtually unkillable and, even then, he better come equipped with the armor of a god.

Who better to take on that role than Deadpool? And with plenty of quips that will undoubtedly take the battle to levels that are as humorous as they are high-stakes.

Will Marvel Bring Back Deadpool For a Fourth Film?

There's plenty to love with the upcoming Wade Wilson: Deadpool #6, which hits local comic book shops on July 1.

It gives every Deadpool fan something to truly sink their blades into as they wait to see if Reynolds reprises the role for Avengers: Doomsday in December, and if plans come to fruition on a possible fourth installment in the Deadpool franchise. As it stands, there is no fourth film in development or planned, at least not with Wade Wilson being the central figure.

Reynolds provided great news in admitting he's begun writing for another film that involves Deadpool, but with a twist: "I have some stuff kind of written, but I don’t think I am ever going to center him again," he told Today. "I think he’s a supporting character. He’s a guy that is great in a group."

And, with that, the wait for another cinematic dance for the Merc with the Mouth gains traction, the comics version is taking on one of the biggest threats in all of existence, and he looks damn good doing it too, in the Knullbuster armor.
