The current state of the Hulk in the Marvel Universe is that Bruce Banner and the Hulk have been separated using supernatural forces. Now, the malevolent ancient being known as The Eldest, who is powered by "The Great Old Ones," has taken control of the Hulk's body, and is cutting a swath through the United States in the pages of The Infernal Hulk.
Along the way, while this "Infernal Hulk" is killing a number of people who try to stop him, he is also converting a select few into new monsters that serve alongside him, giving him a monster army that is slowly increasing in size. Bruce Banner has been lying low, trying to reacclimate to life as "just" a human, but he understands that he is going to have to make a stand soon.

What do we know about the future of the Hulk following the end of Infernal Hulk?
Image via MarvelMarvel has confirmed that the Infernal Hulk will end after its tenth issue, and that will set up the NEXT stage of Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein's acclaimed run on the Hulk, Hulk War: Infernal Rage, a miniseries that will lead into Hulk War period.
When the 2027 event was announced last month at ComicsPRO, Marvel's David Gabriel revealed, "Hopefully you all are enjoying Philip Kennedy Johnson's Infernal Hulk series, something so different for us to have. Philip is an absolute treasure, moulding these characters in his own way. We're letting him do really what he wants with them, he's got a 10-issue arc planned for Infernal Hulk. Once that ends, we do have a bridge about four issues towards the end of this year (Hulk War: Infernal Rage), and this will all lead up to his Hulk War that he has been planting the seeds for since he started his Incredible Hulk run, so look for that sometime around January 2027. You will see the first kickoff in Comics Giveaway Day this year, and that's the Venom and Hulk War book. "
The Incredible Hulk run leading into Infernal Hulk was mostly dealing with the supernatural side of the Marvel Universe, but now that the Hulk has been taken over by the Eldest, the rest of the Marvel Universe is starting to take notice, and in the latest issue of Infernal Hulk, the Avengers showed up briefly. They will likely play a much larger role in the Hulk War proper, but there is still a lot of time to go before that event begins!
