The following contains major spoilers for Expatriate X-Men #3, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

The Age of Revelation's strongest team of mutants is about to lose everything over a classic comic book misunderstanding.

As the eponymous heroes of Expatriate X-Men #3 (by Eve L. Ewing, Francesco Mortarino, Raúl Angulo, and VC's Ariana Maher) make their way to the stronghold of the dreaded Darkchild, they come under fire from the demonic forces of Limbo. Under other circumstances, this wouldn't be of much note, but this time around, it is Illyana who stands as the X-Men's last hope, even if her minions haven't gotten the memo.

But just when they need to band together most, their group of insurgents is being torn apart by lies and deception. Will they escape with their lives or be swallowed by the whims of the Limbo Lands?

Set ten years into the future of the primary Marvel Universe, the Age of Revelation is a whole new kind of post-apocalypse. Following Doug Ramsey's transformation into the heir of Apocalypse, aka Revelation, the former mutant hero set about establishing his reign over a vast swath of North America.

While Revelation purportedly established a mutant utopia on Earth, he was only able to do so at the expense of countless innocents. Thankfully, there are still numerous heroes willing to fight the good fight, whether within the confines of Revelation's rule like the Avengers or directly against it like the Expatriate X-Men themselves.

Among the most unexpected holdouts against Revelation's reign is Illyana Rasputin, better known as Magik, who has fully embraced her demonic Darkchylde persona. More importantly, Illyana has established her own kingdom in what used to be Rhode Island, and not even Revelation himself is willing to set foot within its bounds for fear of what might become of him.

While fans have been enthralled by the Age of Revelation, they are already looking forward to what comes after it when Marvel's Shadows of Tomorrow event kicks off in 2026. The upcoming event will begin in January in the pages of X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, and Wolverine before it envelopes seven more limited and ongoing series in total.

Among the upcoming limited series set under the Shadows of Tomorrow is Magik & Colossus by writer Ashley Allen and artist Germán Peralta. Magik & Colossus #1 will arrive in comic book stores in February, and will see the eponymous mutant siblings team back up for their next most explosive adventure.
