Marvel's latest animated Spider-Man is finally figuring out exactly what kind of hero he is supposed to be.

After narrowly escaping a brutal confrontation with Silvermane's villainous Enforcers, the budding young hero of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #3 finds himself in dire need of downsizing the bulky equipment he built to serve as a web-shooter. Fortunately, Peter Parker is more than capable of coming up with a sleeker, slimmer design that won't be an obvious target for his enemies. Better yet, he even takes the time to finally put together the beginnings of a proper costume, all before reintroducing himself to the burrough he calls home.

Marvel Comics' Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man fills in the gaps leading up to the events of the animated series of the same name. Throughout the series so far, fans have been reintroduced to a whole host of iconic Marvel characters beyond just this new take on Peter Parker himself. Among the most prominent of these figures are Peter's friend, confidant, and budding Master of the Mystic Arts, Nico Minoru, while the infamous crime lord Silvermane and his trio of brutal Enforcers have rounded out the comic book series' core cast of early antagonists.

Prior to the release of the animate series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man head writer Jeff Trammell explained how the show's creative team has made concerted efforts to pay homage to previous Spider-Man films and tv shows, as well as the original comics. "We build on things we've seen before but present them in new ways," Trammell said. "We use those expectations to our advantage and turn things away from where you might expect. I'm excited for people to see new twists on classic characters, and I'm also excited to introduce characters that aren't normally featured in Spider-Man stories."
