The following contains major spoilers for The End 2099 #1, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
The Marvel Universe's next future Spider-Man has finally arrived, and he is already turning out to be a serious problem.
When the threat of a Knullified Galactus emerges in the pages of The End 2099 #1 (by Steve Orlando, Ibraim Roberson, Andrew Dalhouse, and VC's Joe Caramagna), the future Silver Surfer, Jonah Marlo, takes it upon himself to ask the demon Mephisto for help. In doing so, the Silver Surfer paves the way for a battle between two teams of champions — one from the reality of Earth-2099, the other consisting of heroes from across the Multiverse, including the Spider-Man of 3099, who is quick to prove his mettle in truly brutal fashion.

The gilded Spider-Man 3099 was first teased back in September with an early look at The End 2099 #1. The official solicit synopsis for The End 2099 #1 from Marvel Comics reads, "From the ashes of the AGE OF HEROES, a new generation of vigilantes, like SPIDER-MAN 2099, NOVA 2099 and RED HULK 2099, emerged in the dystopia that followed to forge a bright, new future — a future that has come to an end in the face of ABYSSYUS, a horrifying fusion of a KNULL-INFECTED GALACTUS!"
"As the DEVOURER IN BLACK descends upon the world, a deal is struck with the devil — LITERALLY as MEPHISTO bets the fate of 2099 in a brutal battle of survival, pitting the warriors of 2099 against fan-favorite characters from across the Multiverse – like AGE OF APOCALYPSE-ERA WOLVERINE, CLAREMONT/BYRNE-ERA CYCLOPS AND MARVEL GIRL, HOUSE OF M-ERA WANDA and so many more — each battling for their own universe's survival! It's hero against hero in this no-holds-barred war against extinction!"
The current, unified Earth-2099 timeline was first glimpsed in 2019's 2099 Alpha #1 (by Nick Spencer, Viktor Bogdanović, Marte Gracia, and VC's Joe Caramagna). Due to a series of epic shakeups across the Multiverse, as well as no small amount of plotting on the part of Doctor Doom, the various branching versions of the 2099 timeline were brought together as a single, cohesive reality for the first time since the '90s.
While next to nothing is currently known about the Spider-Man of 3099, Marvel fans can rest assured that they will be seeing plenty more of the character in the months to come. Early previews of The End 2099 #2 have already promised a showdown between Spider-Man 3099, Miguel O'Hara (better known as Spider-Man 2099), and none other than Miles Morales himself, although there is no telling which Spider-Man will emerge victorious from the brawl to come.
The End 2099 #1 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
