The following contains major spoilers for Amazing X-Men #2, on sale November 5 from Marvel Comics.

The Amazing X-Men have just stumbled into the realm of the one mutant even more terrifying than Revelation, and there is no telling what she is capable of in Marvel's twisted future.

In a preview of Amazing X-Men #2 (by Jed MacKay, Mahmud Asrar, Matthew Wilson, and VC's Clayton Cowles) from Marvel Comics, readers catch up with the eponymous team of heroes who, after escaping the threat of a brainwashed Wolverine, end up being transported to the heart of Rhode Island. Surprisingly, this quaint corner of the country is completely devoid of the threat of Revelation and his followers. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean Rhode Island is any safer than the Revelation Territories, especially not when it is lorded over by none other than the demonic Darkchylde herself.

While Illyana Rasputin has been a part of the Marvel Universe since her comic book debut all the way back in 1975's Giant-Size X-Men #1 by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, she was little more than the younger sister of the eponymous team's Colossus. At least, that was the case at the time, yet eight years later, Illyana proved just how powerful she was as the mutant hero Magik. In the years since, Illyana has cemented her place in history as a near-unstoppable mutant powerhouse, even if she isn't always the benevolent type.

During the events of Marvel Comics' second Secret Wars, Illyana was subjected to a chance encounter with the Beyonder that irrevocably altered the course of her life. With his vast powers, the Beyonder brought Illyana's infernal other half to the surface, effectively giving rise to the Darkchylde. Though Illyana eventually gained control over herself, her Darkchylde persona has resurfaced at numerous points, almost always for the worse.

Marvel Comics' ongoing "Age of Revelation" event takes place roughly ten years into the future of the Marvel Universe, in a time when the former mutant hero Doug Bradley, now the twisted heir to Apocalypse known as Revelation, has spread his song across nearly the entire world. Thanks to his armies of Choristers and Seraphim, Revelation has established a near-total stranglehold over his vast empire, leaving only a handful of holdouts scattered across the globe to try and push back against him or eke out whatever lives they can on the fringes of the Revelation Territories.

From the looks of things, Darkchylde has been among the most successful of them all, not only establishing a territory of her own, but a border that not even Revelation himself dares to cross.
