Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrella... especially Batman. His passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about.
Any time of the year is appropriate for celebrating comic book characters on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Of course, there is a special time dedicated to this called Pride Month, and Marvel Comics is already gearing up for the festivities.
Marvel has announced a new comic and more to look forward to in honor of this year's Pride Month, which occurs throughout June 2026.
One Marvel Pride title is coming a bit earlier this year, with the late May release of Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1. The digital special sees the eponymous couple's wedding anniversary celebration being interrupted by a certain mechanical unwanted guest, leading to a bid to rescue Vision and Viv from Ultron.
The one-shot is a collaborative effort by an exciting assortment of writers and artists, including Wyatt Kennedy of Image Comics' Bolero fame and Stephen Byrne, an Irish artist known for contributing to Trick 'r Treat: Days of the Dead, based on the horror movie cult favorite. The duo handles the framing story of Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1, which picks up where Kennedy's Wiccan: Witches' Road left off and sees Ultron arrive at the anniversary party with an army at his side.
The special also includes a story in which Wiccan teams up with his twin brother, Speed, against Ultron while dealing with their own personal conflict. The tale comes from another famous twin making her Marvel debut: Tegan Quin of the Grammy-nominated group, Tegan and Sara, who previously worked on a pair of autobiographical graphic novels with her sister. Marvel’s Stormbreaker artist Luciano Vecchio provides the artwork.
Wiccan's husband, Hulkling, also teams up with his own sibling, his alternate universe half-sister Phyla-Vell, for their own adventure as part of the special. This one is written by Marvel Pride veteran Zoe Tunnel, who contributed to Marvel United: A Pride Special in 2025, and features illustrations by Fantastic Four artist Rachael Stott.
Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1 also includes a father-daughter story centered on Viv Vision and her personal dealings with her identity as a synthezoid when reuniting with Vision as all hell breaks loose at the celebration. Josh Trujillo of Blue Beetle fame, who also made his debut in IDW's Love is Love anthology, pens this story drawn by GLAAD Award winner Bradley Clayton.
The one-shot also includes special bonus features, such as an interview with both Tegan and Sara Quin by Angélique Roché.
Marvel Is Also Debuting Special Variant Covers For Pride Month
Image via Marvel ComicsThe Marvel Pride 2026 celebrations do not start and stop at the release of Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1. The publisher also has special variant covers spotlighting some of its most famous characters on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, all of which come courtesy of the aforementioned Marvel’s Stormbreaker artist Luciano Vecchio.
One of the striking covers features the bisexual Felicia Hardy, who is better known as Black Cat. The platinum blonde on-and-off love interest and ally of Peter Parker takes center stage on a variant for The Amazing Spider-Man #31, which hits the shelves on June 17, 2026.
The Pride Variant for the same-day release of Inglourious X-Force #6 puts Hellverine on display. The son of Wolverine, otherwise known as Akihiro or Daken, is also openly bisexual.
Before the release of Al Ewing's one-shot starring Thor's sister called Queen in Black: Hela #1, the Asgardian Goddess of Death will come alive on a variant cover for the eleventh issue of the author's The Mortal Thor run, hitting the shelves on June 10. Hela is known as a queer icon for Marvel, particularly for her relationship with Karnilla, the Queen of Norns.
One of Marvel's most famous gay icons, Bobby "Iceman" Drake, also gets his own Pride Variant cover. The cold mutant takes the spotlight for The Uncanny X-Men #30, which is another June 17 release.
Finally, there is Kitty Pryde on the variant cover for X-Men United #4, which is also coming out on June 17. The mutant, known for her phasing ability, was confirmed as bisexual in 2020.
Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1 becomes available on digital platforms May 27.
