Marvel Comics is shaking things up and altering part of the creative team for Stephanie Phillips' upcoming arc of Phoenix, in which the iconic Jean Grey will face her biggest challenge yet. Phoenix #11 will hit comic shelves this May.
Phillips and Alessandro Miracolo's Phoenix launched in 2024, with Jean reborn as the cosmic superhero she had always been destined to become. Per Marvel, Phoenix #11 will mark the debut of new series artist Roi Mercado, a recent Disneyland Paris Marvel Art Atelier training program participant. The issue will also feature renowned artist Lucas Werneck's first cover for Phoenix, which will arrive with a variant cover by the acclaimed Peach Momoko. Werneck is taking over as the main cover for the series.

With Jean reborn as a cosmic superhero in Philips' Phoenix, the iconic mutant has tapped into the uppermost limits of her abilities. As the galaxy's prime protector, she has engaged in reality-shaking battles against the likes of Perrikus, Thanos, and the Dark Gods, all while struggling to hold onto her humanity. Marvel promises her greatest test will come in Phoenix #11, which will see the return of someone close to Jean's heart, causing her to question her entire purpose as Phoenix.
Marvel's Phoenix #11 description reads, "Life and Death Among the Stars! The universe faces a great imbalance! A fracturing! A coming death... and the only one who can stand in its way is the PHOENIX! But that's not all. Jean Grey's calling to space and responsibility to the galaxy becomes suddenly, critically personal with the return of a long-lost loved one—whose presence will throw everything Jean knows into total chaos!"

Stephanie Phillips Teases the Upcoming Phoenix Arc
Phoenix series writer Philips shared her excitement for the upcoming arc, which has surprises in store for readers. "Working on this book has been an incredible experience and I can't wait for you all to read the next chapter in Jean's journey," she said. "We're going bigger and more ambitious, continuing to ramp up the action and maybe have an unexpected reunion or two among the stars. This new arc will be cosmic and intense - pushing Jean in ways that surprise everyone... including her."
Phoenix #11 will arrive in comic book shops on May 14, 2025.
