Marvel Comics has released a brand-new teaser image for The Age of Revelation. Launching in October, it is unclear yet if this is to be a crossover event across the multiple X-Men titles or an entirely new line-wide relaunch, similar to the From The Ashes relaunch last year.
The current line-up of books has had multiple crossover events already, including the Raid on Graymalkin storyline and the X-Manhunt storyline. How The Age of Revelation will shakeup the X-Men line of books is yet to be seen, with Marvel hinting at more information coming in the form of a larger announcement to be made next week.
The teaser comes with the tagline ‘X Years From Today…’ teasing a potential far-future storyline, perhaps similar to iconic X-Men storylines such as Days of Future Past, Age of Apocalypse or Messiah War. Current books in the X-Men line include the three flagship titles; X-Men by Jed McKay and Ryan Stegman, Uncanny X-Men by Gail Simone and David Marquez, and Exceptional X-Men by Eve L. Ewing and Carmen Carnero, as well as spin-off titles such as Wolverine by Saladin Ahmed and Martin Coccolo, Storm by Murewa Ayodele and Lukas Werneck, and Magik by Ashley Allen and Germán Peralta.
With a wide range of books, the potential impact of a line-wide crossover or relaunch is immense, and X-Men fans will undoubtedly be curious to see the newest challenge their favorite superhero team will face going forward. The teaser can be seen below.
Featuring art by Marvel Comics mainstay Humberto Ramos, the teaser for The Age of Revelation depicts a seemingly apocalyptic future, with the cover evoking the iconic cover to Uncanny X-Men #251 by Marc Silvestri. We can clearly see Cyclops crucified, as well as other noteable X-Men characters, and even some minor ones such as Glob Herman. What awaits Marvel’s mutants is yet to be seen, but should be an exciting and interesting event for fans to keep an eye on in the weeks and months to come.
