“Armageddon At The Aleph!”

Doctor Skarab has unlocked the full power of the Ruby Scarab, but his mind is unfocused. Chaos has erupted all around him as N’kantu and his allies attack the god-like Elementals. The streets of Cairo are a war zone with lunatic sympathizers engaging both living and undead adversaries. Then Hydron, the megalomaniacal leader of the Elementals, announces their true motivations for seeking the scarab gem. The total enslavement of Earth!

With those words, Doctor Skarab becomes razor focused. A primordial rage begins to build deep inside his psyche as ancient voices call out to him from the beyond. These demigods were unable to conquer Earth three thousand years ago. Now the magic has returned to foil them once and for all.

Have the powers of the Ruby Scarab erased Cairo from the mortal plane? Will the Living Mummy survive a blazing firestorm cast upon him? Can the Asp retrieve his treasure before the opportunity escapes him? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

That is it! The final battle in the “War That Shook The World”. But did it really? One would think, at the minimum, some of Marvel’s magic-based superheroes would have shown up to help out. No Doctor Strange. No Doctor Druid. Heck, even Brother Voodoo did buy an airplane ticket to Egypt. What a bizarre time it was in 1975.

Overall, I loved Supernatural Thriller #15. Artist Tom Sutton drew some amazing artwork throughout the series. The cover art alone, by Gil Kane and Tom Palmer, is worth the purchase price. Sutton and John Warner made a terrific team and would go on to have lengthy careers in the industry.

The only thing that bothered me about this finale was the fact that it seemed rushed. The battle is whisked away to an uncharted dimension never seen in Marvel Comics. It would have been worth the time and money for Marvel to explore such unknowns. Just my thoughts.

I give both this issue, and the series as a whole, four out of five stars. If you’re a Bronze Age Marvel collector, you will definitely want these books in your collection. Mummies equal money.
