There's fantastic news for The Fantastic Four. Before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters and holding over the space left open by The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel's first family will return in the form of a prequel comic.

Per The Direct, "First Foes is due out on March 4, 2026. The new high-flying epic is being written by Marvel veteran Dan Slott (Fantastic Four, Spider-Boy, Amazing Spider-Man) with art from Fantastic Four interior artist Mark Buckingham. Fantastic Four cover artist Phil Noto will also return to design the special one-shot's cover."

The Direct added a bit more context as to what fans can expect upon Marvel Studio's version of The Fantastic Four taking center stage in their very first comic. "Set on Earth-828, First Foes will be written as if it were published by the Future Foundation, taking place before the events of the movie but after The Fantastic Four have become the world-famous heroes they are in the 2025 blockbuster," the entertainment website reported.

"As The Fantastic Four rise to become the heroes we know today, the Mad Thinker becomes determined to get his proper due by turning the city of tomorrow against its heroic patrons!" the comic's official synopsis reads, promising a new adventure ahead before it's time for The Fantastic Four to face Doctor Doom on the big screen yet again - this time, through the lens of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fantastic Four: First Foes will welcome the titular team back to the pages of Marvel Comics before their next cinematic outing. This will double as a return for The Mad Thinker, who did receive an incredibly fleeting cameo in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Marvel fans can expect Fantastic Four: First Foes to be a part of an ongoing series that will continue to pull Marvel Studios' version of The Fantastic Four onto printed pages. It's expected that the new Fantastic Four series will span throughout 2026.

Outside of Fantastic Four: First Foes, The Fantastic Four will presumably play a significant role in Avengers: Doomsday, which will serve as the Avengers' major return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe post-Avengers: Endgame. It's expected that Marvel's First Family will be pulled into Avengers: Secret Wars, or maybe earn a sequel to The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
