Probably the darkest thing that we have learned about the future of the X-Men in the current Age of Revelation crossover event, is not that Revelation (the X-Men member formerly known as Doug Ramsey, who had been chosen by Apocalypse to become his heir) has turned evil ten years in the future (or "X years in the future," if you prefer). We have a long history of people getting involved with Apocalypse and having it turn them evil (the iconic Dark Angel Saga was a classic storyline that involved this very topic, with Archangel becoming the new Apocalypse), but the darker thing is how many current heroes have thrown in with Revelation in the future. However, in the case of both Logan and Laura Kinney, who are Death and Sabretooth, respectively, in the future, it is because Revelation has used his powers to mess with their minds.

In this CBR exclusive preview of next week's Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #2, we see that in action as Laura is sent after her own sister and half-brother to get back the son that she was desperate to see escape from the half of North America that is currently controlled by Revelation and his forces. Can a mother's love be turned evil?

In the preview pages, we see Laura deal with the events of the first issue, where she learned that her son, Sean, is not actually a mutant. Laura, fearing for his safety, wants him to get out of the Revelation-occupied land, but she knows that she would never be able to do so herself, so she turned to her estranged "sister," Gabby (quotes because they are both clones), and her half-brother, Akihiro, to help Sean escape. When her fellow Revelation follower, Hellion, discovered the truth, Laura killed him to prevent him from ratting her out. She reports to Revelation, hiding Hellion's murder.

Revelation, though, decides he doesn't want Sean to leave his land, so he uses his powers to force Laura to get her son back by any means necessary, and Laura cries as her mind is warped to believe Revelation's words. We see Gabby and Akihrio with Sean, who believes his mother has abandoned him. Gabby, who hates that Laura serves Revelation, begrudgingly admits that Laura IS doing the right thing here. However, before they can escape in the teleportation gates to Arrako (the mutant haven on Mars), Laura arrives with Revelation's soldiers to stop their exit. Will Laura really not let her own kid escape? You'll have to pick up a copy of Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #2 next week to find out!
