Mighty Avengers #24 (2009)

In this issue, Loki’s role as part of the whole Dark Reign event becomes clearer. Osborn meets on the psychic plane with his cabal–which includes Emma Frost. Doom expresses anger at the relocation of Asgard to Latveria. Hood’s upset about Punisher and Mr. Negative (they will come to a head soon). They all don’t like that the X-Men are reforming on the West Coast and that there’s a new Avengers team made up of actual heroes. In short, his peeps aren’t thrilled with his rule. By the end of the issue, he throws a Green Goblin fit and says they won’t meet like this anymore.

He takes his ball and goes home, basically.

Behind the scenes, Loki has been sabotaging Osborn’s efforts (masquerading as Scarlet Witch). In this issue she stirs the pot with the Young Avengers+Amadeus Cho.

For action: Hank Pym takes his Mighty Avengers team to fight Swarm, and Quicksilver joins the team. Note that Pym has “Pym Pockets” now, which are basically teleportation portals. But, like everything he creates, they’re unstable and are about to get worse.

LOTS is crammed into this issue, but overall it reads well.

They use a Pym Pocket doorway to get home. Jarvis stops Jocasta from giving them the bad news just yet. And Scarlet Witch/Loki who’s listening in isn’t happy about Pietro’s complicating presence.

The Cabal have another meeting in the psychic plane. Osborn gets very angry about the MAv and his face turns into the Green Goblin. He quickly ends the meet and declares that they’ll hold no more psychic ones (because they are to revealing).
