Based on the classic comic book character of the same name created by Ben Edlund as a mascot for the New England Comics chain, The Tick premiered on television back in 2001, seven years after the character came to life in his very own animated series. The Tick featured a leading ensemble cast including Patrick Warburton as the Tick, David Burke as his ever-trustworthy partner, Arthur, Liz Vassey as the incomparable Captain Liberty, and Nestor Carbonnell as fan-favorite Batmanuel.
Although The Tick only lasted for a single nine-episode season on Fox, the series was a hit with critics. As of the time of writing, The Tick holds an 88% "Certified Fresh" rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across 24 verified critical reviews. The series also holds an 89% audience-generated "Popcornmeter" score on the platform.

This second live-action The Tick series was even better received by critics and audiences than its predecessor, leading to the production of a second season. While Season 1 of The Tick holds a 90% "Certified Fresh" rating via Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across 63 verified critical reviews, Season 2 boasts a 100% rating of its own. For comparison, Season 1 and Season 2 also hold 90% and 96% audience approval ratings, as averaged across more than 500 and more than 250 reviews, respectively.
