One of G.I. Joe's most action-packed comics won't end up needing any dialogue at all. Skybound and Image Comics recently released a first look at a Roadblock comic to be released as part of Skybound's Silent Missions month this April.
Inspired by G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #21 and its 'Silent Interlude,' Skybound is assembling superstar creators to present their own Silent Missions throughout April. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero - Roadblock #1 will be written and drawn by Andrew Krahnke (Bloodrik) with colors by Francesco Segala (G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero). Skybound recently unveiled the lineup of cover art for the one-shot and a preview of the intense action that will unfold between Roadblock and Cobra.

No dialogue is needed to portray the explosive events unfolding in the preview pages of Roadblock #1. The character, who is known for being the G.I. Joe team's Heavy Machine Gunner, finds himself caught up in a conflict with Cobra and Wild Weasel that involves plenty of loud explosives. Roadblock doesn't hesitate to grab his own .50-cal machine gun and start firing back.
"Andrew Krahnke is one of the most exciting new voices in comics and this issue proves it," Alex Antone, Editorial Director at Skybound said in the press release announcing G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero - Roadblock #1. "A masterfully crafted silent issue, this is one Roadblock story that G.I. JOE fans won’t soon forget!"
Skybound Plans Five Silent G.I. Joe Issues for April
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero – Roadblock #1 will be the fourth of five Silent Missions one-shot stories releasing on Wednesdays this April. The publisher will also release a special "Silent Missions" edition of the "Silent Interlude", G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #21, which inspired the stories. It will include a new letter from Larry Hama.
The first Silent Mission to arrive will be for Beach Head on April 2, with Phil Hester (Green Arrow) telling the story of the legendary G.I. Joe as he is hunted by the forces of Cobra. On April 9, a story starring Jinx will follow from DANI (Arkham City: The Order of the World) and Dan Watters (Destro), which sees the G.I. Joe ninja left with only 20 seconds to escape a Cobra base.
