Nova #16-18 (2008): 1st new Nova Corp; Quasar returns

In outer space, Nova learns about the invasion of Earth from his ally, Super Skrull, after they take down a skrull armada.

When they arrive in Earth’s atmosphere, they find themselves in the middle of a fleet of skrull warships.  Super Skrull pretends to betray Nova and “kill” him, so that Nova can secretly head down to Earth.

Once there, he heads to Project PEGASUS, which is under attack by the skrulls and protected by Darkhawk.  Inside, Nova finds his brother–a scientist who works there–and is introduced to “Director Gruenwald.”

More importantly, Project PEGASUS has a “quantum flask” that actually contains the original Quasar.

Together, they fight off the skrull invasion of the facility.  The skrulls are using their super skrull tech, and we get a brief “Hulk” vs “Thing” fight…

They’re also able to use Project PEGASUS tech to download the Worldmind, which is dormant in Nova.  Together, they are all able to repel the invasion.

I mean, honestly, between those three they seem more than capable of taking down a couple hundred super skrulls.

Once he is back “on line,” the Worldmind summons a new Nova Corp.

That’s the cliffhanger out of the Secret Invasion tie-in.

Wow.  These issues covered a LOT of ground.  Not only did they revive Quasar and Worldmind, but they also essentially rebooted the series by giving Nova his own team and returning him to Earth.
