The following contains major spoilers for Rogue Storm #1, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

One of the most powerful mutant heroes of all time is fated for an utterly gruesome demise, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.

In a preview for Rogue Storm #1 (by Murewa Ayodele, Roland Boschi, Neeraj Menon, and VC's Travis Lanham) from Marvel Comics, readers are dropped five years into the Age of Revelation to bear witness to the devastation that swept over different corners of the planet. From what can be gleaned from the title's unseen narrator, it was none other than Storm herself who wraught such destruction, forcing those who once loved her to imprison her for the safety of the rest of the world. To make matters even worse, that confinement simply wasn't enough, leading to what would ultimately be Storm's untimely and previously unthinkable demise.

The official solicit synopsis for Rogue Storm #1 from Marvel Comics reads, "Kill the goddess, save the world! X years later, with Earth's gods gone, only Ororo Munroe, the mutant god of storms remains. She is a goddess driven mad by dark magic and grief. Now, as Storm threatens to freeze the world into a new Ice Age, Rogue leads a team of killers and legends — Gateway, Iceman, Fantomex, Spiral and Warpath. The sole mission of this Uncanny X-Force: kill Storm."

Marvel Comics' Age of Revelation event takes place ten years into the future of the current Marvel Universe. Rather than being set in an alternate timeline, however, the vision of the future seen in the Age of Revelation is that of the primary Marvel Universe timeline belonging to Earth-616. Marvel Comics Executive Editor and Conductor of X Tom Brevoort previously confirmed that "As far as we're approaching this, these are all legitimate futures. This isn't a What If world. These things exist, as far as even the present-day characters are concerned. So, you’ll see a certain amount of reflectivity in what happens."

While the Age of Revelation will undoubtedly reshape the future and much of the present of the primary Marvel Universe, fans have already gotten their first glimpse of what comes next. During New York Comic Con, Marvel Comics unveiled the first slate of Shadows of Tomorrow titles, which will pick up in the aftermath of the Age of Revelation. Apart from playing out in the pages of existing titles such as Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine, the Shadows of Tomorrow event will also serve as the jumping-off point for several new series, including Inglorious X-Force, Generation X-23, Storm: Earth's Mightiest Mutant, Wade Wilson: Deadpool, Cyclops, Magik & Colossus, and Rogue.
