“Pan’s Labyrinth” Invites San Diego Comic-Con Fans to Embark on Quest, Party, More

Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth is celebrating its 20th anniversary at San Diego Comic-Con in a big way this year.

In addition to their Hall H panel on Friday, with director Guillermo del Toro and stars Doug Jones (The Faun/Pale Man) and Ivana Baquero (Ofelia) for a look back at the beloved film, the film is also bringing attendees plenty of fun outside the convention center as well.

Things begin Thursday and Friday with the Pan’s Labyrinth Fetch Quest, a free scavenger hunt that sends players searching for three iconic characters from the film: one evil, one pure of heart, and one “with a name only the wind and the trees can pronounce.”

To begin, fans can pick up a specially designed quest ticket, illustrated by Francisco Ruiz Velasco (Thor: Ragnarok, Frankenstein), at Toynami’s Booth #3229 or Insights Editions’ Booth #2129, or receive one from the first roaming character they encounter. You can also get a jumpstart by printing it now.

The characters will be hidden throughout both the convention center and the Gaslamp Quarter, so questers will need to keep their eyes peeled.

Everyone who completes the quest will receive a limited edition Pan’s Labyrinth poster, while the first 50 to finish will earn access to a private poster signing with Guillermo del Toro on Saturday.

Fans should note that the Captain only appears on Friday, while the Faun roams both Thursday and Friday.

Then on Friday evening, the celebration continues at PARQ, which will transform into the world of Pan’s Labyrinth for a 20th anniversary party. Beginning at 7pm, the event features a happy hour, a screening of the film, and a live DJ set from Flying Lotus.

Completing the quest also grants priority access to Friday night’s celebration, though the event itself is open to all.
