A collection of previously unseen promotional posters developed for the 2013 film, "Man of Steel" has recently surfaced, shedding new light on the visual planning behind the 2013 feature film. The artwork, comprised of eight completed poster designs, was created during the film's original marketing development and has now been made public by industry artist Oleg Zatler.

The designs reflect a broad exploration of tone and imagery considered during the early stages of promotion. Several posters place Superman within a dramatically altered Metropolis, emphasizing scale, destruction, and isolation as central themes. The imagery reinforces the film's grounded approach to the character, presenting Superman as a powerful yet contemplative presence within a modern world facing extraordinary circumstances.

Other concepts lean more heavily into symbolism, incorporating the House of El insignia and reimagined urban landscapes to convey legacy and identity. Additional artwork highlights pivotal elements of the character's journey, including the moment of first flight and visual references to remote, frozen environments associated with Superman's Kryptonian origins.

Although the posters were ultimately not used in the theatrical marketing campaign, their level of refinement underscores the extensive creative process behind the film's release. The unused designs illustrate how multiple visual directions were developed and evaluated before final materials were selected, reflecting the scope and ambition of the project.

More than a decade after "Man of Steel" debuted and launched a new era of DC filmmaking, the emergence of these posters offers a rare look at an alternate chapter in the film's history.
