Patrik Walker is an Emmy Award–winning writer who covers all things Comics & Superheroes. His work can also be found at the Dallas Cowboys, The Sporting News, and CBS Sports, among other outlets. One of the most respected names in his field, he is also a diehard enthusiast of all things comics, anime, gaming and movies — thriving in spaces where discussions involving those or similar topics reign supreme.
Robert Kirkman has done it again, but this time with the Transformers as his muse. The award-winning creator of The Walking Dead and Invincible, the latter preparing for Season 4 to land in 2026, and with a terrifying threat to come, has now put his masterful creativity to work with Transformers #25, and it’s off to a start that can only be compared to Starscream generating a sonic boom.
Kirkman, Skybound and Image Comics, along with IP and Hasbro, have taken an already popular Transformers comic series and made it wildly more so, to the point the Transformers #25 issue will try to meet its extreme demand by returning with a second printing that could very well become collector’s items in their own right.
What’s more is, Transformers #25 is not simply delivering a second printing, but a run that includes not just one, two or even three, but a total of four all-new covers — by Jason Howard — bringing Bulkhead, Miles Mayhem, Bonecrusher and Mirage to the forefront of the Energon war in comic shops on November 12th, 2025.
“I'm blown away by how Optimus Primed the audience was for this issue!" Robert Kirkman said via official press release. “I did a pun in a press release! Look at me! I never expected our orders to more than double for our 25th issue and to then have to go into multiple printings to meet demand, I’m Decepticonfounded over the whole thing!”

Skybound EntertainmentAlso weighing in on the explosive impact of Transformers #25, sharing in Kirkman’s elation, was executive editor Ben Abernathy: "To the surprise of no one, this ground-breaking issue is returning with a new printing thanks to the fans!” yelled Abernathy. “But this issue is just the tip of the iceberg in what — and who — is to come!”
Robert Kirkman Is Transforming Energon
Image via Image ComicsKirkman made it known prior to the release of Transformers #25 of his plan to transition the comic series to something that more embodies his vision for it, but slowly and organically versus causing a complete upheaval and unraveling of what already made it popular to this point. Given what he’s done for the aforementioned franchises like The Walking Dead and Invincible, not to mention Marvel Zombies, the ravenous demand for all things Energon should come as no surprise.
His Midas touch continues, it seems, and with no signs of slowing down — great news for not only fans of Kirkman and Transformers, but for the world of comics as a whole, seeing as a win for one is often a win for all in the realm of animated creatives. On that note: Autobots, transform … and roll out a second printing.
Transformers #25 released on Oct. 8, 2025 from Skybound Entertainment, now available in stores.
