Stranger Things star Sadie Sink gives the perfect response to a question regarding her upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight during the premiere of Stranger Things Season 5, Sink was asked if she could describe her upcoming (and unnamed) character from Spider-Man: Brand New Day in a single word. "I thought this was the Stranger Things premiere. I wasn't prepared," Sink responded. When pressed for a single word to describe the character, Sink replied, "Mmm, no."
The news that Sink had signed on for a role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day was confirmed earlier this year, with speculation about what character she will be portraying in the film coming immediately after. While many have pointed towards Sink stepping into the shoes of one of Peter Parker's many comic book romances such as Felicia Hardy or Gwen Stacy, recent set photos have pointed other fans in a completely different direction. Currently, one of the most prominent fan theories regarding Sink's casting in Spider-Man: Brand New Day revolves around Rachel Cole, an ally of Frank Castle, a.k.a the Punisher, who will be portrayed in the film by Punisher and Daredevil: Born Again star Jon Bernthal.
Currently set to arrive in theaters on Jul. 31, 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark Tom Holland's return to the role of Peter Parker alongside a star-studded ensemble cast including fellow MCU mainstays Zendaya as Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk. The film will also see Michael Mando make his long-awaited return as Mac Gargan who, after being bested by the Wall-Crawler in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, is finally ready to make his debut as the Scorpion. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will also feature another iconic comic book villain in the form of Lonnie Lincoln, aka Tombstone, as portrayed by Black Lightning star Marvin Jones III, who previously voiced Tombstone for 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
What's Next for Sadie Sink Before Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Image via NetflixBefore she makes her MCU debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day next year, Sadie Sink will be helping to lead the cast of the fifth and final season of Netflix's Stranger Things. The upcoming final season of Stranger Things is set for a staggered premiere on Netflix, with the first four episodes slated to arrive on the platform on November 26. The next three episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 will premiere a month later on December 25, while the series finale makes its way to the platform on December 31. Back in March, Sink opened up about her final day on set of Stranger Things, recalling, "I had cried so much that my eyes were so puffy — they had never been like that before and there are some pretty embarrassing photos of me just with these giant puffy eyes."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to swing into theaters everywhere on Jul. 31, 2026.
