Fans are revisiting one of the best Superman stories of all time and sending it to the top of the streaming charts. It also comes right ahead of a huge milestone.

Per FlixPatrol, Smallville has officially made its way to the number seven spot on the list of the top series currently available for streaming on Netflix worldwide. While Smallville still has quite a ways to go before it begins encroaching upon competition such as Bridgerton, The Art of Sarah, and The Night Agent, the hit Superman prequel series doesn't appear to be in any danger of sliding down the chart.

What's Smallville About?

Developed for television by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, Smallville premiered on The WB (now The CW) back in 2001 and introduced audiences to a younger version of the Man of Steel than they were used to seeing on screen. The series followed young Clark, who was blessed with supernatural powers, and hid them from everyone, while protecting teenagers from evil forces.

Smallville starred Tom Welling as Clark Kent, alongside an ensemble cast including Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang, Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, John Glover as Lionel Luthor, and Annette O'Toole and John Schneider as Jonathan and Martha Kent.

Over the course of its decade-long run on television, Smallville amassed a whopping 218 episodes across ten seasons. In that time, Smallville introduced a whole host of young versions of iconic DC Comics characters, including Alan Ritchson's Arthur Curry, Erica Durance's Lois Lane, Justin Hartley's Oliver Queen and Callum Blue's Zod.

What the Future Looks Like for Smallville

Although Smallville came to a close after ten seasons in 2011, that wasn't necessarily the end of the story. Over the course of three years after, Smallville continued on courtesy of DC Comics' Smallville Season Eleven series, which ran for 19 issues. Fans also got to follow along with the extended adventures of Allison Mack's Chloe Sullivan through the short-lived tie-in series, Smallville: Chloe Chronicles.

While these and other minor additions to the wider Smallville mythos are certainly appreciated, they are a far cry from the full-fledged continuation that fans have been waiting to see for years.

Back in November 2025, Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum discussed the long-awaited animated follow-up series, explaining, "We did some artwork and Al [Gough] and Miles [Miller], who created Smallville. They're attached. And Tom [Welling] and I wanna do it, but it's gotta be the right time, when you pitch."

"And, you know, you have to make sure that the studio is wanting to do something like that right now," Rosenbaum continued. "So, we wanna get it made, and we plan to use all these guys [the Smallville cast members present] when we get it made. But we don't know when. We don't know when, but it's a work in progress."

Smallville is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
