Skybound and Image Comics have released a first look at G.I. Joe #6. The new issue will wrap up the first arc of the series.
"Duke vs. Cobra Commander. It’s all been leading to this. And the ending no one will see coming," the solicit reads. Skybound teased the upcoming issue with a lineup of variant covers and interior pages. Inside the story, Cobra Commander confronts Duke, hinting that the two characters are more alike than they appear on the surface. The preview concludes with Cobra Commander cockily assuming Duke won't murder him, toying with him that he knows the truth about the robots that are haunting him. G.I. Joe #6 goes on sale April 16.

The Energon Universe's G.I. Joe stories run alongside the publisher's other ongoing title, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The debut issue of G.I. Joe hit stores late last year, and it saw the beloved factions of good and evil vying over the discovery of Energon, a new energy source that's changing the world. In addition to Duke and Cobra Commander, the series has also explored characters like Destro and the Baroness.
The New G.I. Joe Series Isn't Afraid to Take Big Risks
When G.I. Joe #1 was released last November, the reboot's debut issue made it clear that no character was safe. After the G.I. Joes go through a rigorous training exercise, a vicious attack on their headquarters from Cobra saw one of the heroes tragically dying in order to save his allies. The unexpected death of the character from the jump set the series up for big action and a high-stakes environment, and now it's all about to come to a head with Cobra Commander and Duke's showdown in G.I. Joe #6.
