“The Serpent Ring – Part 03: Till Death Do Us Part“

The expedition has reached inland but Abramo Bensaid and Solomon Kane have grown suspicious of their new guide, Father Goncallo. The priest had lost his ministry weeks prior to a tribe of godless savages, but his demeanor is unbecoming even for a man of the cloth. As the group explores the charred remains of the Sao Mancos Mission, both men discuss the mythology behind the serpent ring of Thoth-Amon.

According to the Book of Psalms, the Shedim were a race of snake-like demons spawned through the infidelity of Lilith, the first wife of Adam. The great serpent of Eden, Nahash, preyed upon the woman and her grand ambitions for power over god. But the Jewish scholar Abramo knew of stories much older than those written in biblical times. The magical Ring of Set and the serpent-men of old came from the Hyboria age. A world forgotten by man.

Will Abramo Bensaid uncover the truth behind Father Goncallo abnormalities? Can Solomon Kane protect Diamanta Bensaid from the ongoing advances of Rolando Zarza and his lackey, Nico Cassani? What secrets lie in the Stones of Pungo Andongo? Collect the series to find out!

“The Puritan Avenger In The Shadow Of The Serpent”

In part two of Jeffrey Shanks’ exposé on Solomon Kane, the Robert E. Howard historian dives deep into the history of the Puritan warrior and his pulp magazine adventures. From witches, vampires, and beasts who could trace their lineage back 100,000 years, Solomon had a truly diverse storyline. Sadly, readers are left with no true ending. For fans of the character, a list of his appearances can be found here.

Reviewer Notes

The plot has reached the top of the roller coaster and the downward descent is so close readers can taste it. Just a few more inches until the big reveal. It must be close. I give this issue three out of five stars!
