In the most recent issue of Amazing Spider-Man, the wallcrawler was approached by a new being known as Hellgate. He appeared to believe that Spider-Man was someone who destined to meet, and possibly help him, but first he decided that he needed to test Spider-Man, and that led to an epic battle, where Spider-Man had to give it his all just to slow down Hellgate. He even tried to just run away, but he couldn't get away from Hellgate. So he tried one last valiant plan, and it seemingly worked...only for Hellgate to break free from the frozen prison Spider-Man thought he had trapped him in. Now, in a CBR exclusive preview of next week's Amazing Spider-Man #8, we see how Spider-Man handles the shock and terror of facing off against a being like this.
Amazing Spider-Man #8 is from writer Joe Kelly, pencilers John Romita Jr and Todd Nauck, inker Scott Hanna (Nauck inked himself), colorist Marcio Menyz (with Erick Arciniega), and letterer Joe Carmagna, and it shows how even someone like Spider-Man can have his outer protective shell of snark broken through sometimes when things get REALLY bleak.

Peter Parker Deals With Being in an Open Romantic Relationship in Amazing Spider-Man #6
In a CBR review of Amazing Spider-Man #6, we see how Peter Parker handles being in an open romantic relationship
In the preview pages, Spider-Man finds himself just continuing to wail on Hellgate, even though his face feels like punching concrete. After Spider-Man exhausts SO much energy beating Hellgate to as close as Spider-Man can get to beating him to a pulp, Spidey is shocked by Hellgate simply LAUGHING, even as he bleeds from Spider-Man's punches!
Hellgate then grabs Spider-Man, and beging to fly with him into the sky, and Spider-Man is shocked to realize that he is feeling something that he doesn't really feel that often (since he is really a rather powerful superhero, all things considered), which is just sheer FEAR.
