Patrik Walker is an Emmy Award–winning writer who covers all things Comics & Superheroes. His work can also be found at the Dallas Cowboys, The Sporting News, and CBS Sports, among other outlets. One of the most respected names in his field, he is also a diehard enthusiast of all things comics, anime, gaming and movies — thriving in spaces where discussions involving those or similar topics reign supreme.
As if Spider-Man doesn't have enough to deal with, amirite? Think about this for just one second. Peter Parker will swing into theaters this summer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and with plenty of enemies (most of them brand-new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe), and then there's what he's up against in the comics, as he and The Punisher set to clash before Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal do on-screen.
Also, in the comics, is the return of Tarantula before the cinematic debut of the villain, the classic crossover matchup against/with Superman and, flipping back to the big screen for a moment, it's not exactly as if Miles Morales is having a smooth go at things as the world waits impatiently for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse to arrive.
Now, take a look at this:

Welp — sorry Spider-Man, but things just got cataclysmically worse for you, the events of Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral notwithstanding (oh, did I fail to mention that as well, because sheesh).
Marvel Has Unleashed Carnage Goblin Against Spider-Man
The Carnage symbiote found a powerful new host in that comic series, and has again in The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #4, when he takes over none other than Norman Osborn a.k.a. Green Goblin, one of the most villanous and unforgiving enemies Parker has ever faced ... responsible for some of his worst physical and emotional traumas.
Combining Carnage with the Green Goblin is diabolical work by Marvel Comics.
Per the synopsis: "CARNAGE ON CAMPUS! NORMAN OSBORN's training regimen takes its toll on the Spiders! As they pick up the pieces, another threat emerges - is there a killer loose on campus?!"
Spider-Man's New Marvel Comics Series Off to a Wild Start
Let your imagination run wild when it comes to what atrocities might be concocted by a Carnage-infected Norman Osborn. It's the latest and, so far, wildest, arc in The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity comic series that is now four issues into its limited five-issue run.
That's right: there's only one more issue to come after The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #4, and that explains why things have taken such an intensely terrifying turn in the fourth installment. The series was launched in April at the hands of John Morris and Pere Perez and it certainly didn't begin in the same way it's potentially set up to end.
Osborn was initially training Spider-heroes of all sorts, a complete change in character, truly, and that included Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Silk and others. His training was to ensure they were prepared for major threats but, as it turns out, it's now Osborn who is the biggest threat, thanks to Carnage, and what happens from here is anyone's guess — good luck to every Spider involved.
