Wolverine's team-ups with Deadpool have gotten the most attention recently, but the iconic Marvel hero (who recently celebrated his 50th anniversary) has been teaming up with Spider-Man for years before Deadpool even made his first appearance, and Wolverine and Spider-Man are picking up their team-up ways again in a brand-new team-up series, Spider-Man & Wolverine, launching this May.

The book will be written by longtime TV writer and producer, Marc Guggenheim, who had a run on Wolverine's ongoing series back during the Civil War crossover and was also one of the members of the "Brain Trust" group of Spider-Man writers who wrote Amazing Spider-Man in the "Brand New Day" era, and it will be drawn by Kaare Andrews, the superstar artist who recently drew acclaim for the sequel to his popular Spider-Man miniseries, Spider-Man: Reign.
The original Ultimate Universe had its fair share of controversial stories, but this story from Ultimate Spider-Man might be the most unnecessary.

Marvel has not yet released a solicitation of the first issue of the new ongoing series, but in its press release announcing the new book, it described the series like this:

It sounds like it will be in the mode of some other recent team-up books from Marvel (like the aforementioned Deadpool/Wolverine ongoing series that Benjamin Percy and Joshua Cassara are doing for Marvel at the moment)
While Spider-Man and Wolverine don't always get along, one crazy adventure formed a powerful bond between the two heroes.
What do Marc Guggenheum and Kaare Andrews have to say about the series?
Marvel shared comments from Guggenheim and Andrews that were originally shared in Polygon's announcement of the book. Guggenheim noted, “Spider-Man and Wolverine are probably my two favorite Marvel characters to write and among my favorites in all of comics. I wrote Peter and Logan very early in my career, so I’m particularly excited about returning to them with a great deal more of experience and skill to lend to the endeavor. Kaare Andrews and I are determined to deliver a comic book blockbuster every month, with action that never stops.”
Andrews added, "Spider-Man and Wolverine have always attracted the best artists in comics and I’m pulling from all of them. But honestly, it’s not just about individual artists—it’s about the era that shaped me. The late ‘80s and early ‘90s comics were a huge influence, and that’s where I first fell in love with the medium.”
Spider-Man & Wolverine #1 will be released on May 7th, with a main cover by Kaare Andrews, and variants by David Marquez, Mark Bagley, and Clayton Crain (all shown above).
