Who lives in a pineapple under the sea and, now, with a commemorative keepsake for all to see? SpongeBob SquarePants, that’s who. Fans of the long-running Nickelodeon franchise will be ecstatic to know the keepsake in question isn’t simply for those underwater who crave one — no goodies for you though, Plankton — but also for anyone who wants to celebrate the legendary shenanigans of Bikini Bottom.
On February 17, 2026, fans can get their hands on SpongeBob SquarePants: The Art of an Undersea World, a deep dive of a tribute into all things SpongeBob, including previously unreleased art from both the TV show and films — such as pre-production sketches — and interviews with cast and the creator, Stephen Hillenburg, make it that much more epic.
via Paramount/NickelodeonWith more than 350 pages of content, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Art of an Undersea World might require a scuba mask to search its depths or, at minimum, Sandy’s air helmet. The collectible is a must-have for all Bikini Bottom fans, researched and written by Tracey Miller-Zarmeke, credited with also creating art books for other classic franchises such as Kung Fu Panda, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and How to Train Your Dragon, it celebrates a quarter-century of SpongeBob's hijinks.
"As both an artist and someone lucky enough to help steward the iconic world of SpongeBob, this book is more than a collection of images. It’s a celebration of the creativity that’s made SpongeBob so special for 25 years, and a visual love letter to the imagination of Stephen Hillenburg and everyone who’s brought Bikini Bottom to life,” said Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Animation. “Every sketch and concept design reminds us how much heart, humor and creativity went into building SpongeBob’s universe. This book is not just an artbook but a portal into 25 years of pure joy and undersea imagination."
Soak It All In, SpongeBob
What SpongeBob SquarePants has achieved is nothing short of awe-inspiring and ranks right up there in the rare air of The Simpsons — animated series that have spanned generations and, to this day, continue to set the standard for consistent and unwavering excellence in both writing and animation. In the process, like The Simpsons, SpongeBob’s antics have also created a laundry list of successful spin-offs that include, but are not limited to:
- The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie
- The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie: Sponge Out of Water
- Sponge On the Run
- The Patrick Star Show
- Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years
- Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie
- Plankton: The Movie
- Search for SquarePants (December 2025)
“You never really know the true value of a moment,” says SpongeBob, “Until it becomes a memory.”
Added to this list of TV and film spin-offs is the fact that, since 2000, there have been a total of fifty-three different video game titles headlined by SpongeBob, with more on the way, and another thirty-seven that were not but still include him in the game itself. That’s an unreal number of accomplishments that don't account for the list of accolades earned by the franchise: more than a jaw-dropping 100 awards won and over 200 combined nominations. So if nautical nonsense be something you wish, let SpongeBob SquarePants: The Art of an Undersea World make you drop to the deck and flop like a fish.
