Star Trek: Starfleet Academy — Lost Contact is the first comic book tie-in for the recently released Star Trek: Starfleet Academy streaming series. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy premiered on Paramount+ on January 15 and immediately won over audiences with its new take on the classic Star Trek formula.

Set in the 32nd century after the events of Star Trek: Discovery, which saw Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets begin recovering from The Burn, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy follows the first proper generation of Starfleet cadets in more than a century. The series' leading ensemble cast includes Holly Hunter as Captain Nahla Ake of the USS Athena, Sandro Rosta as Caleb Mir, Karim Diané as Jay-Den Kraag, Kerrice Brooks as Sam, George Hawkins as Darem Reymi, and fan-favorite franchise stars Robert Picardo and Tig Notaro as the Doctor and Jett Reno, respectively.

Since its premiere, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has been widely lauded by critics, with the series currently boasting an 88% "Certified Fresh" rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. That being said, the series has been met with a far more divisive response from audiences, with Star Trek: Starfleet Academy holding a mere 49% audience-generated "Popcornmeter" score as of the time of writing.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy — Lost Contact #1 from IDW Publishing goes on sale April 15.
