The following contains major spoilers for Storm #5, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

The biggest fight the Marvel Universe has ever seen is about to envelope Storm's entire life.

While the titular hero of Storm #5 is busy standing up to the narcissistic threat of Doctor Doom, even greater forces than either of these Marvel Comics icons are setting up what could be the biggest confrontation in the history of their entire universe. Out in the highest reaches of the cosmos, the One Above All is moved by the tragedy of Oblivion, who has spent billions of years separated from his sister, Death. Now, the One Above All has seen fit to give Oblivion a fighting chance to reunite with his family, and all it will take is winning one last battle against the living embodiment of the Marvel Universe itself - Eternity.

First glimpsed in the pages of 2004's Fantastic Four #511 by Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo, the One Above All is the absolute highest entity in all of existence within the pages of Marvel Comics. Existing beyond all ordinary bounds of dimensional space, the One Above All is the creator of all realities that comprise the Multiverse. Rather than standing as a timeless being or ancient species, the One Above All is a paradoxical character who quite literally birthed himself into existence, much in the same way that the malevolent Mother of Horrors did before it was beaten and chained by the One Above All's darker manifestation, the One Below All.

While the One Above All rarely intervenes in any ongoing events for himself, he speaks and acts through the Abstract Entity known as the Living Tribunal. Like other Abstract Entities such as Death, Eternity, Infinity, and Oblivion, the Living Tribunal is a near incomprehensible figure who is only capable of taking on a physical form thanks to the bodies provided by channeling themselves through the Dimension of Manifestation. Whereas this could be a limitation for other beings, the Abstract Entities' near limitless power ensures that they are only ever truly felled by the absolute destruction of the Multiversal Cosmos in which they reside.

The MCU's Most Controversial Character Just Teamed Up With Black Cat

Black Cat has just revealed exactly how much the price is for her to betray Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and it is absolutely perfect.

Storm's recent connection to Eternity was formed shortly after her death at the hands of the demonic entity that saved her life as part of a dark deal which she herself recently broke. Instead of letting Storm pay the price for her transgression, Eternity stepped in on her behalf and transformed her into the Eternal Storm, a vessel through which he snuffed out the demon and gave the X-Icon a new lease on life. At the time, it wasn't quite clear what Eternity sought to gain from this, though now it is painfully apparent that the Abstract Entity is eying her for its latest champion to battle to the death against Oblivion.
