"Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story" Earns Four Prestigious Emmy Nominations

The critically acclaimed documentary "Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story" has received four nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, recognizing its powerful storytelling, emotional depth, and outstanding craftsmanship.

Produced by Words + Pictures, Passion Pictures, and Misfits Entertainment, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in collaboration with DC Studios, HBO Documentary Films, CNN Films, and Max, the documentary made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2024. It later received a theatrical release in North America and was met with widespread critical acclaim.

Among its numerous accolades, the documentary was named one of the top five documentaries of 2024 by the National Board of Review, earned the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary, and took home multiple Critics' Choice Documentary Awards, including Best Documentary Feature.

Directed by Ian Bonhóte and Peter Ettedgui, with writing contributions from Otto Burnham, the film offers an intimate and inspiring portrait of Christopher Reeve. It follows his rise to international fame as Superman and his later transformation into a passionate advocate for spinal cord injury research after a 1995 horseback riding accident left him paralyzed. Featuring heartfelt interviews with Reeve's children - Matthew, Alexandra, and Will - and close friends and collaborators, the film celebrates Reeve's enduring legacy of courage and compassion.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, September 14, 2025, on ABC.
