Posted on April 29, 2026 by Neil Cole
Guests aboard "Superman: The Ride" at Six Flags New England were recently evacuated from a significant height after the roller coaster came to a stop near the top of its track, prompting a carefully coordinated response from park personnel.
The incident occurred on April 24th, when the ride halted before completing its normal cycle, leaving passengers suspended near its highest point - more than 200 feet above ground. Riders were subsequently instructed to exit the train and descend a narrow staircase built along the coaster's structure, assisted by trained staff members.
Images and video from the scene, widely shared online and reported by national media, show guests making their way down the steep incline in a controlled, single-file evacuation. Despite the dramatic nature of the situation, no injuries were reported, and all riders were safely brought to ground level.
Following the incident, Six Flags New England issued a statement confirming that the ride did not complete its typical cycle and that employees enacted established safety protocols. According to the park, all guests were safely unloaded, and staff maintained communication throughout the process.
Park officials emphasized that these procedures are part of comprehensive safety planning and noted that affected guests were offered the opportunity to return for a future visit.
"Superman: The Ride", a signature attraction at the park, is known for its height and speed, making it one of the region's most prominent thrill rides. Following a thorough inspection, the roller coaster has since re-opened and continues to operate under normal conditions as the park reviews the incident in accordance with standard procedures.
