Supernatural fans are in for a timely treat as the Halloween season approaches. The franchise is set to return on Oct. 29 — and new story details have emerged about the Winchester brothers' latest adventure.

The previously announced Supernatural comic book series will kick off with its debut issue mere days before Halloween, with new issues following monthly. It will spin off from the beloved TV series starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, telling all new adventures as the two brothers hunt down demons, specters, and other monsters of the night. New posts and information about the first issue of Supernatural tease its place in the franchise's canon — and it's shaping up to be an important piece of Supernatural lore that fans won't want to miss.

The Supernatural comics will be set between the foundational first and second seasons of the television series, with Dynamite Entertainment teasing the story will bring readers back to where the dark magic first began — all while revealing a disturbing new threat that the bickering brothers will have to face before they can resume their mission of finding the demon who killed their mother.

"In this first issue, the monster hunters must uncover the entity responsible for a series of mysterious fires in a decaying rust belt town — attacks that begin with a Windler Industries factory burning down, and then escalate to several Windler employees themselves going up in flames," Dynamite's solicit teases. "But finding the malevolent force behind the otherworldly arsons may not be as straightforward as it might seem — especially once the suspiciously well-prepared CEO Steff Windler gets personally involved!"

"Fans of Supernatural know the show is a blast, and it's an enormous pleasure and privilege to be able to dig into this wild world, especially with Eder Messias," Pak teased of the upcoming series when it was announced earlier this year. "We're going for fun and grounded, and then we're going to absolutely cut loose when the time comes."

Dynamite also revealed that each issue of Supernatural will include a special photo variant cover showcasing the beloved cast of the hit show. The first issue can be pre-ordered at local comic book shops today.

Supernatural's Comics History Dates Back to 2007

The Supernatural universe's lore is set to expand with Darth Vader and Lilo & Stitch author Greg Pak at the helm, with Sam Wilson: Captain America artist Eder Messias handling the art. The new series marks the fifth Supernatural comic book series, and the first from Dynamite Entertainment.

WildStorm published three six-issue comic book miniseries, beginning with 2007's Supernatural: Origins, which showed fans a look at the early lives of John, Sam and Dean. In 2008, Rising Son followed, showcasing Dean's journey as he followed in his father's footsteps. A third miniseries, Beginning's End, arrived in 2010 that gave fans a glimpse into the events that led up to Sam leaving his family and attending Standford.

DC Comics published its own miniseries, Caledonia, in 2011, which picked up after the events of Beginning's End and focused on Sam's trip to the United Kingdom during his Stanford years. It remains to be seen how many issues Dynamite Entertainment's Supernatural story will run for, but it currently has solicits planned for the next four issues.

Supernatural #1 will be released on Oct. 29.
