The synopsis continues, "Captured by an uncanny posse of skeletal cowboys, the Winchester boys are hauled before an equally incorporeal judge and put on trial for their very souls. Supernatural Returns To Its Television Roots
Image via Warner Bros. The Supernatural comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment offers fans of the hit The CW show a chance to return to the fantastical and terrifying world of their favorite series. Supernatural drops readers into one of the Winchesters' most iconic eras, adding previously untold chapters to Sam and Dean's story.
As previously explained by Supernatural writer Greg Pak, "We're setting our stories basically near the end of the first season, when it was really a monster of the week show with these guys on the road, and every episode is a self-contained story with new locations, new characters, and a new monster."
The original Supernatural series by creator and showrunner Eric Kripke premiered in 2005 on The WB (currently The CW) and introduced audiences to Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles' Dean and Sam Winchester, a pair of brothers who have followed in their parents' footsteps as professional monster hunters. Supernatural quickly established itself as the then-latest hit action drama, and went on to amass a whopping 327-episode, 15-season run, all while kicking off a massively popular multimedia franchise.
Dynamite Entertainment's Supernatural comic book series has continued offering fans stories that feel like they were pulled right out the original series. The comics have also added entirely new layers to the wider Supernatural mythology, with the iconic '67 Chevy Impala known as "Baby" becoming possessed just a few issues into the series' run.
