Award-winning animation studio Titmouse will produce an animated TV adaptation of Image Comics' critically acclaimed series Nights. Titmouse will craft the upcoming series in collaboration with the comic book's creators, Wyatt Kennedy and Luigi Formisano.

Per Image, the Nights animated series will stay true to the source material's distinctive artistic style and storytelling as it introduces audiences to new layers of depth and imagination. Like the comic book, the supernatural coming-of-age story will center around a group of friends navigating life, relationships, and mysterious paranormal events. In a world where vampires and monsters are real, the series' nostalgic and dreamlike setting will have a late 90s to early 2000s vibe. Image promises that Nights, with its blend of indie and anime influences, will be both scary and emotional.

Titmouse has a solid track record with animated series fare, having produced hits such as Big Mouth and The Legend of Vox Machina. Creative Director at the animation studio, Alexei Bochenek, is excited to bring Nights to life on the small screen and is intent on eliciting the same intense emotional responses from audiences that fans of the comic book have exhibited. "Nights isn't the type of comic you read and say, 'Oh neat, cool art, good story,' and then put back on the shelf with all the other comics that have cool art and good stories. Nights is a generational experience in the making," he said.

Bochenek continued, "Reading it reminds me of when I used to stay up late watching FLCL at midnight on Toonami, having my mind blown not just by how dynamic it was, but by how seen it made me feel, a mirror to my whole self, good and bad, dreams and fears. If you know, you know. I want to bring that feeling back to the animation fans like me who have been chasing it ever since and introduce a whole new audience to the experience of discovering themselves through a new show that they feel seen by and become huge champions of, too. That's what Nights is."

Nights' Creators Also Discussed the Upcoming Animated Series Adaptation

Nights' writer Kennedy and artist Formisano are ecstatic about the collaboration with Titmouse. "Despite so many live-action comic translations, I never envisioned Nights being adapted any other way than as an animated series," Kennedy said. "Luigi's and my love of animation is baked into the very fiber of the book, and having the legendary, incredibly talented team at Titmouse help bring it to life is mind-blowing. From our earliest conversations, Alexei and his team immediately understood the soul of our strange little story, and their passionate, collaborative spirit leaves me confident that we're crafting something that fans of the book and newcomers alike will love."

Formisano added, "It's unbelievable to think that the incredibly talented people behind some of my favorite shows are now bringing Nights to life. As a fan of Titmouse's works for years, it's a dream come true. It's a huge honor to work with a team that loves this story as much as Wyatt and I do, and I can't wait for fans to see what we create together."

Titmouse is yet to schedule a release date for the animated series adaptation of Image Comics' Nights.
