From creating the underground tales of Gen X wastrel, Hugo Tate to the bestselling, Eisner-winning Laika, he’s worked as an illustrator, editor and writer in his long and varied cartooning career. When I heard his next book was going to be in collaboration with his wife, the therapist Angela Watson, I was curious to talk to them both about it. My Beloved Other is a graphic memoir exploring their nearly 40-year interracial marriage, weaving in the migration stories their respective families and their shared experience of moving from Britain to the United States in an age of unrest.
