You can never sit on an idea too long. Back in 1987, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird outlined a story set 30 years in the future. Rediscovered decades later and updated, that idea became Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. Set in a war-ravaged 2040, one turtle remains and is out to avenge his brother’s deaths at the hands of Shredder’s grandson. It’s an idea that became a huge hit in 2021 and has since spawned follow-up sequels and one-shots that extend the Roninverse.

Find out how to read all The Last Ronin comics with this handy reading order. It’ll get you on the right path to explore the Roninverse and make sure you don’t miss out on any of the gritty action.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin on Webtoon

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin has been serialised on Webtoon as part of a partnership with IDW Publishing.

The six issues have been divided into 23 digital chapters, with the comics reworked to accommodate vertical scrolling. While most of it works fine, isolating panels, not too dissimilar from digital comics’ guided view, horizontal elements made for print work less effectively. The webtoon tries its best to account for these by rotating them, but it doesn’t always work. That’s always a risk when translating a print comic into a webtoon.

Despite that, the webtoon is a good way to sample Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin to see if it will appeal to you.
