This January, the current volume of the Avengers will hit #34. However, that issue is not just the latest chapter in writer Jed MacKay and artist Farid Karami's current pairing on the series, but it is also the 800th issue of the Avengers period, so it will be a major oversized anniversary issue that will see MacKay and Karami joined by famous Avengers writers and artists from the past to celebrate the legacy 800th issue of the title.
The issue will mark a turning point in the current battle between Kang and his variant, Myrddin, who is trying to become the main version of Kang in the universe. However, Kang, meanwhile, is trying to create a new universe of his own. It is unclear who, exactly, the Avengers want to be on the side of, but ether way, this will mark a major endgame for at least one of the two cosmic rivals, and the Avengers are right in the middle of it all!

What do Jed MacKay and Russell Dauterman have to say about the anniversary issue?

Meanwhile, as you can see above, Marvel is releasing a special series of connecting variant covers, beginning with Avengers #34/800, and then continuing for the next two issues, all drawn by superstar artist, Russell Dauterman, featuring EVERY Avenger EVER! Dauterman went into EXTENSIVE detail on these covers. It's truly amazing. Dauterman added in the press release, "I jumped at the chance to draw these covers –– I'm honored to be involved with this Marvel milestone! Editor Wil Moss referenced Jim Lee's X-Men team lineups as inspiration –– I ran with that, looking to the awesome 1992 trading cards and also to the awesome art of George Pérez. I love the Avengers team pieces that George did over the years, and was excited for the opportunity to do my own."
